Please join us this Friday evening Feb 29th from 6-8pm
for the opening reception of three wonderful and talented photographers. The VPC is pleased to present the work of Mary Frey, Robert Lyons, and Stephen Petegorsky.
Mary is exhibiting her newest work: a series of ambrotypes from
Imagining Fauna. Ambrotypes are a wet-plate collodion process used from the 1850-1870's, before film had been invented. Don't miss this opportunity to meet Mary and discuss how the digital age blends with this unique process.
Robert has recently returned to our area after calling Seattle his home for the last several years. Currently teaching in Berlin and also with Mary at the University of Hartford, he shows us some of his very large color images from his series The Company of Another. His largest image stands over 7 feet tall and takes center stage in our gallery!
Stephen shows us the quieter side of life with one of his projects titled
The Meadows. These are reflections and contemplations in black and white taken while walking in the meadows area of Northampton near the airport and the fertile farmland along the Connecticut River.
The Valley Photo Center is located on the Mezzanine level of Tower Square at
1500 Main Street in Springfield, MA. Please contact us at 413.781.1553 or
